HEAT PUMP

Heat Pump

Heat pumps work by pumping warm or cool air into your home, so there is a lot of air that flows through the vents and the filters. Like any parts of appliances or machinery, your heat system or heat pump works hard to deliver clean air and heat. Keeping on top of your heat pump servicing will not only make your home healthier but will also ensure your heat pump is working efficiently and help avoid more costly repairs.

There are some cleaning and maintenance checks you can do yourself, but sometimes it calls for a professional heat pump servicing company.

Reason number 1 – dirty air

Air can be full of dust, dirt, and allergens and if your heat pump is doing its job properly then it will be trapping and removing these from the air.

And if it’s not?

That dirty air is in your home.

Heat pumps and air conditioners have special filtration systems that work to catch the dirt before it enters your home. This is particularly beneficial for people with allergies.

The Mitsubishi Electric Black Diamond Series heat pumps have the Plasma QuadPlus Advanced filtration technology in many of their systems. This superior system has specially designed filters to catch more of the dirt and pollen in the air than ever. This filtration system can help remove smells too!

Two-Stage Plasma Filter

The Plasma Quad Plus Filter works like an electrical curtain, using an electrical discharge to catch and neutralize even microscopically small particles in the air. In fact, it can even capture PM2.5 particles (which are up to 30 times smaller than the width of a human hair!!

Reason number 2 – noise

Noisy heat pumps aren’t normal. Heat pumps are generally quiet and don’t interfere with your sleep, watching TV and the sound should be mostly unnoticeable.

However, if you do notice that your heat pump has become noisy and is interfering with your sleep and the sound is very noticeable then it’s definitely time to do something about it.

Sometimes parts within heat pumps can become loose, and regular maintenance checks and heat pump servicing will help prevent this from happening.

Reason number 3 – reduced efficiency

To keep your heat pump running efficiently you need to make sure that everything is running smoothly. Keeping on top of your heat pump servicing and maintenance will ensure power bills stay low. If your heat pump isn’t working properly then it may end up using more power than normal which can become expensive.

If you have noticed that your heat pump isn’t working as it should call in a professional to take a look.

Reduced efficiency can also lead to less heat being pumped around your home which is frustrating especially during the cooler months when you really need it.

Reason 4 – costly repairs

Heat pumps just like everything have a life span – a heat pump that is regularly cleaned and serviced will last far longer than one that isn’t. If you want to get the most out of your heat pump then make sure you keep up with cleaning and maintenance.

If you don’t it can end up costing more. It’s always much easier to avoid and prevent mishaps and the need for repair work. And, that’s our last important reason why if you haven’t had your heat pump serviced for a long time you really should get on to it soon.

How often should I get a heat pump service and maintenance done?

It is recommended to have a heat pump service once a year or every second year, depending on how often you use your heat pump.

In between services you can keep up with maintenance and cleaning yourself.

Outside weeds and loose garden litter can sometimes clog up the outdoor unit so checking this every few months is a good idea. Remove any weeds that are growing too close and trim back any shrubs that may get too close as well. Vacuuming the air vents of your indoor unit every few months is a good way to make sure it stays clean too. You can check and clean your heat pump filters yourself too
